Following the stunning success of Asia Pacific Week 2018, CAP is pleased to announce that the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific will once again host the event in mid 2019. Asia Pacific Week (APW) is an annual conference that brings together leading experts with student delegates from around the world to engage in dynamic discussions on the developments and trends that are shaping the Asia Pacific Region.
We would now like to invite applications for the Student Committee for 2019. Applications are open to all ANU undergraduate students. APW is a joint initiative by students and the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, with the Student Committee responsible for arranging all aspects of the event. The event will be held in mid-2019, dates to be confirmed.
If you are on the committee, you may be able to enrol in ASIA3023: Asia Pacific Internship. Please check with your home college if this can be accommodated into your program. Another option for recognition is through the ANU+ Volunteer Scheme.
Committee positions include: Deputy Director (Finance), Content Coordinators, Logistics Coordinators, Delegate Coordinators, Media and Marketing Coordinators and Special Projects Coordinators (Please note that more than one person may be appointed to each position and other positions may evolve as the committee is formed). View portfolio descriptions.
The time commitment for these roles will range from initially being around 4-5 hours a week, up to 15 hours a week, in the weeks leading up to the event (this may vary depending on the role). Ideally applicants will understand event concept and implementation; have solid written and oral communication skills; and have strong coordination and multi-tasking skills together with an eye for detail. Please be aware that you will have to dedicate time to this event during the Semester 1 examination period.
So if you have an appetite for a challenge, this is a great opportunity to gain high-profile organisational experience and make extensive contacts here in Canberra, across Australia and overseas. You may also be able to get credit for your work as part of a special projects course, if your degree requirements allow this.
Applications close at 5pm Wednesday 24 October 2018. Please note that you will have to be available for an interview, either in person or over Skype on Friday 2 November 2018, and be available for an initial meeting of the Committee prior to the end of 2018.
We look forward to your involvement in Asia Pacific Week 2019!
